Travel Sri Lanka through a variety of landscapes, from tea plantations to Yala National Park. You can visit temples, go to high elevations and see historic cities.

Day 1

ARRIVE COLOMBO, SRI LANKA

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport. After clearing customs and immigration, you are met and transferred to your hotel in nearby Kotugoda.

Day 2

CULTURAL TRIANGLE

After breakfast, drive approximately five hours overland to Thirappane, the heart of Sri Lanka’s monument-rich Cultural Triangle region. Spend the remainder of the evening at leisure.

Day 3

CULTURAL TRIANGLE

The sacred city of Anuradhapura is ancient and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was founded from a cutting of the Buddha's tree of enlightenment, brought to the city by Sanghamitta, a Buddhist nun. It endured for 1,300 years before being invaded in 993 AD. Hidden in dense jungle for many years, the site's palaces, monasteries and monuments are revealed today. Mihintale is another site you can visit which is home to Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Choose to return to your hotel or spend the rest of the day at leisure enjoying your resort's amenities.

Day 4

CULTURAL TRIANGLE

“LION’S ROCK”

Today, explore the Sigiriya Rock Fortress (“Lion’s Rock”), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fortress was built in the fifth century AD and is now an abandoned citadel. Standing at 600 feet above the ground, it was originally used to guard against attacks before being abandoned around the ninth or tenth century AD. You will tour ruins of Polonnaruwa, an important historical site that dates back to the fifth century and features temples, reservoirs and many more places of interest.

Day 5

KANDY

SACRED TEMPLES

Depart overland for Kandy, stopping at the impressive Dambulla Cave Temples, some of the most stunning in all of Sri Lanka. Also, visit the workshop of a local batik maker to learn about the artisan tradition of making designs on fabric.

Day 6

KANDY

MAGNIFICENT FLORA

Explore Kandy today with a drive around Kandy Lake. Discover the gem museum, bazaar, and Temple of the Tooth Relic. Temple of the Tooth Relic is where a sacred tooth of Lord Buddha is enshrined. You can also explore how its two-story inner shrine is fronted by two large elephant tusks.

Day 7

TEA COUNTRY

SCENIC HIGHLANDS BY RAIL

After breakfast, explore Peradeniya's Royal Botanical Gardens, where 300 varieties of orchids are cultivated. Founded in 1824, it contains some of the most valuable collections of plants and trees in the world. Later, board a train bound to Hatton. Sit back and take in the scenic highlands of Sri Lanka as lush tea estates, mist-covered mountains and cascading waterfalls pass by. After a packed lunch on board, disembark in Hatton and transfer to your hotel.

Day 8

TEA COUNTRY

TIME TO UNWIND

After breakfast, take in a special hotel tea service featuring handpicked Ceylon tea leaves. Enjoy the remainder of the day at your own pace, perhaps unwinding with a spa treatment or setting out on a bicycle ride through the surrounding tea plantations.

Day 9

YALA NATIONAL PARK

Check-in at your hotel in Yala National Park before heading out for a safari. It is the habitat of many animals, including hundreds of Asiatic elephants. The Sri Lankan leopard is an endangered animal that you might encounter during the safari. Return to your hotel when the trip is complete, and get ready for dinner

Day 10

YALA NATIONAL PARK

THRILLING GAME DRIVE

Explore the Yala National Park at an early morning safari and see wild animals, including leopards, elephants, wild buffalo, musk deer, mongooses, pangolins, sloth bears and macaques. You can return to your eco-friendly accommodation in time for a Champagne brunch and later go on an afternoon safari followed by dinner.

Day 11

GALLE

After one final morning game drive, travel to the ancient trading post of Galle, where you enjoy lunch at your colonial-style hotel. Set out on an evening walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage City of Galle, visiting its Dutch fortress.

Day 12

GALLE

This morning, you see the famous stilt fishermen, who use an age-old fishing method to bring in their daily catch.You can take a tour at Villa Mayurana that includes a cinnamon experience, lunch, and a knowledgeable guide. Villa Mayurana is located on the lush grounds of the property’s fragrant spice plantation. This plantation contains different varieties of spices and provides a fun experience for guests. Cinnamon is there in abundance and is highly prized among Sri Lankans as well as across the entire world. The plantation employs skilled workers who process this delicious spice into an easily consumable form for tourists.

Day 13

COLOMBO

Return to Colombo today. In the afternoon, embark on a historic walking tour with a Colombo native. Experience Pettah Bazaar, and visit the Old Dutch Museum, former home to Count August Carl Van Ranzow.

Day 14

DEPART COLOMBO

Transfer to the airport and board your departure flight.
